Manchester United could be set to miss out on two attacking targets in the same deal.
The Red Devils are keen to add more firepower to their first eleven in the January window and have been linked to moves for forwards Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.
Two other players they have been more recently linked to is Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain and Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus.
Incredibly reliable journalist David Ornstein confirmed that United are one of the frontrunners in a deal to bring Kolo Muani to the Premier League this month.
What’s more, United have been linked to a swap deal with Juventus where the Old Trafford side would send Joshua Zirkzee to the Old Lady and they would receive Vlahovic in return.
Calciomercato’s recent report suggests that United could potentially miss out on both deals in one fell swoop.
Juventus have changed course lately and are now prioritising an attacker in this window and while they have been linked to United’s Zirkzee, there is another option that has presented itself.
PSG’s Kolo Muani is unhappy with the number of minutes he is getting at the club and is seeking a move away but Juventus sense an opportunity as PSG sporting director, Luis Campos, has a serious “appreciation towards Dusan Vlahovic.”
The Serbian for his part has been seen as a key member of the Juve squad and they would ideally reach a new deal on lowered terms “but so far every approach has been rejected by the centre forward’s entourage.”
Therefore, Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli “has always worked on the profile of Kolo Muani, hypothesizing a loan operation and possibly with a part of the €8 million net annual salary paid by PSG.”
“A loan exchange with right of redemption is a concrete option, but with only a year and a half to go until Vlahovic’s contract expires, a permanent transfer of the Serbian that would lead to a budget-saving and market-saving cash flow would not be ruled out.”
Such a swap deal could be devastating for United’s plans as they are clearly very interested in at least Kolo Muani and may be relying on Juventus to do a deal for Zirkzee to fund such a move due to the tight financial restrictions they are working under.
