Manchester United’s line-up for our final match of 2024 has been announced.

The Reds are facing Newcastle United at Old Trafford in a 20:00 GMT kick-off, hoping to end the year on a positive note.

Ruben Amorim has recalled Marcus Rashford to his squad and there is also a place on the bench alongside him for 16-year-old defender Godwill Kukonki.

United are without suspended duo Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte, following the Boxing Day loss at Wolves.

Joshua Zirkzee will presumably play behind fellow forward Rasmus Hojlund, while Christian Eriksen and Casemiro form the base of the midfield.

Matthijs de Ligt is fit enough to start, following his recent illness. Another member of the three-man central defence, Lisandro Martinez, wears the armband in the absence of captain Fernandes.

THE TEAMS

United: Onana; De Ligt, Maguire, Martinez (c); Mazraoui, Casemiro, Eriksen, Dalot; Amad, Zirkzee; Hojlund.

Substitutes: Bayindir, Kukonki, Malacia, Yoro, Collyer, Mainoo, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford.

Newcastle: Dubravka; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Hall; Joelinton, Tonali, Guimaraes (c); Murphy, Isak, Gordon.

Substitutes: Odysseas, Kelly, Livramento, Longstaff, Miley, Willock, Almiron, Barnes, Osula.
