Man United could decide to sell these three players in the January transfer window to generate more transfer budget.
The Red Devils had a busy summer adding and selling players. They brought in the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and sold the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford and Antony.
However, based on the amount that Man United have spent over the past five years in the transfer market, player sales must be necessary if they want to generate funds to improve their squad, such as if Ruben Amorim wants more players in the January window.
So, who could United sell to generate some funds in January…?
1. Harry Maguire
Defender Harry Maguire has been linked with leaving the club for several seasons now, but with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season, United may decide to cash in on him in winter.
At the end of the summer window, there was reported interest from the Saudi Pro League in Maguire, plus, he could be of good value to a fellow Premier League side.
Maguire’s market value is around £11m according to TransferMarkt, so United could get a solid return on the 32-year-old if they act now and sell him.
2. Kobbie Mainoo
Considering that Mainoo would like to leave due to his lack of game time, and Amorim seems very reluctant to play him, United could cash in on the potential of the 20-year-old.
Mainoo has reportedly generated interest in the past from Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man City, and so United wouldn’t struggle to sell the midfielder if they wanted to.
He is estimated to be worth around £44m, and so could provide United with some serious return if they managed to sell him.
3. Altay Bayindir
Recent reports have linked United to AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is also wanted by Chelsea.
If the Red Devils opted to sign another more experienced goalkeeper alongside Senne Lammens who they signed in the summer, Bayindir would no longer have a role in Amorim’s squad.
The Turkish international is estimated to be worth around £7m, and could be a solid signing for a smaller Premier League team, or team in Europe.
