£100,000 a week star offered to Manchester United – Should they sign him?

Chelsea Nicolas Jackson

Manchester United have searched high and low for a new striker for quite some time now. The Red Devils need to reinforce the number nine position with someone who is a reliable goalscorer.

One player that the club is heavily linked with RB Leipzig number nine Benjamin Sesko. The Slovenian is also courting interest from Newcastle United.

However, there is still not enough clarity on whether or not Man Utd manage to land Sesko and it never is truly over until the contract is signed.

Now, as per Talk Sport, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been offered to Manchester United. The number nine is one of the many players the Blues are willing to let go this summer.

Jackson has been in the Premier League for a couple of seasons now. He joined the Blues, from Villarreal and although his first season wasn’t the greatest, he did show signs of improvement eventually.

However, Chelsea, as they have done for the past few seasons, have ended up signing new strikers like Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

This is likely to leave the £100,000 a week star in the cold, forcing his agent to offer him out to clubs. However, he is not the striker that Manchester United needed.

Should Manchester United sign Nicolas Jackson?

For all of Jackson’s qualities, he is not a reliable goalscorer. His finishing has been far from consistent. His ball-striking technique needs a lot of improvement.

What Manchester United need is someone who is very consistent with his finishing. They have already realized the ill-effects of having an unreliable goalscorer in Rasmus Hojlund.

The Dane moved from Atalanta to Old Trafford a couple of seasons ago. Signing Jackson would mean joining two very similar players for the same position and it is unlikely to work.

So, no matter the deal on the table, Man Utd should not go for Nicolas Jackson this summer. Let’s wait and see how things play out.
