Manchester United’s 2-0 home defeat to West Ham United was compounded by an injury blow to Leny Yoro.

The Frenchman, who started in the middle of a back three, alongside Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw, was replaced in the 52nd minute of our penultimate home game of 2024/25, and looked distraught.

Although the teenager was able to walk down the tunnel, head coach Ruben Amorim also showed his exasperation with the situation, with the Europa League final only 10 days away, and Tottenham Hotspur providing the opposition in Bilbao.

However, our head coach offered a positive update when speaking at his post-match press conference.

“We have to assess Leny in a better way tomorrow [Monday],” he told reporters.

“He felt something but I think it could be a small thing.”

In a separate interview with Sky Sports, Ruben reiterated that there is no reason to fear the worst.

“He had that problem at the beginning of the season,” added Amorim. “We hope it’s not too serious. I don’t want to say too much but maybe it’s not a big deal.”

We will all be keeping our fingers crossed for Leny, as the 19-year-old has been excellent throughout our run to San Mames, including an outstanding performance in Thursday night’s 4-1 second-leg win over Athletic Club.

Matthijs de Ligt is facing his own race to be fit for the final, while Diogo Dalot, Jonny Evans and Ayden Heaven are still out and Lisandro Martinez will not play again this term.

Spurs, meanwhile, had their own injury scare, as they lost 2-0 at home to Emirates FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace. Influential midfielder Dejan Kulusevski appeared to take a blow to his knee and was substituted early in the game, but the north Londoners’ boss Ange Postecoglou feels the Sweden international will be fine for 21 May.

“He should be okay,” said Postecoglou. “I was just talking to him after. The medical team are not too concerned about him. It was just a knock.”
