Manchester United suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of Aston Villa. Here are our player ratings from the game. (A score of 6 is around average) Senne Lammens 5 – Made a good save early one but well and truly beaten by Morgan Rogers for both of Aston Villa’s goals. Leny Yoro 3 – Not good enough for either of Villa’s strikes. Didn’t get tight enough to Rogers for the first one, allowing the midfielder to cut in and fire home. Also caught sleeping for the second. Ayden Heaven 5.5 – Enjoyed a bright start to the game, making a brilliant tackle to deny Ollie Watkins. Produced multiple crucial interceptions but also didn’t react fast enough for Villa’s second goal. Luke Shaw 6 – Good in possession and looked to bomb forward at every possible opportunity. Diogo Dalot 5 – An outlet for United but just not quite to the level of Amad, who was sorely missed today. Manuel Ugarte 3 – Shocking, particularly when he had the ball. He was dispossessed in the first half, and Villa immediately created consecutive chances from the turnover. His overall impact was very limited, and even his supposed defensive strength without possession was lacking. Bruno Fernandes 6 – Doing OK until he pulled up with an injury and was taken off during the break. Hopefully it’s not serious. Patrick Dorgu 6 – Not much was coming off, especially in attack, but he never stopped trying to make things happen. Won the ball and assisted Matheus Cunha’s goal. Delivered a superb pinpoint cross to Cunha that the Brazilian should have headed in to make it 2-2. Mason Mount 5.5 – United needed him to step up in the absence of Fernandes but didn’t make much headway. Created a fine chance for Sesko and tried to combine with Cunha but unfortunately for United, it wasn’t enough. Matheus Cunha 8 – Sensational finish after Dorgu had won the ball high up. Presented with a golden opportunity to draw United level once more but he couldn’t supply the finishing touch. Benjamin Sesko 4 – Missed two very good chances in quick succession. A tough outing on his return to the XI. Substitutes Lisandro Martinez 6.5 – Deployed in a largely unfamiliar midfield role, he adapted impressively. He kept things ticking over for United in the middle of the park and performed with the composure of a seasoned midfielder. Joshua Zirkzee 5 – Didn’t have an impact. Jack Fletcher 6 – Fantastic achievement to make his senior United debut. An OK cameo. Shea Lacey 6 – Another who made their senior United bow. Registered a shot, although the attempt didn’t trouble Emi Martinez.
