We asked you, the fans, to select Manchester United’s Man of the Match following the away win against Fulham, and one player took the lion’s share of the votes.

The Reds edged out Fulham with a narrow 1-0 victory at Craven Cottage, thanks to Lisandro Martinez’s deflected strike breaking the deadlock in an otherwise relatively even contest.

Toby Collyer played a vital role in the result with a headed clearance off the line to prevent what looked a certain equaliser, before Amad had a goal ruled out for offside in the closing moments of the contest.

But who was voted United’s Man of the Match on the night? Keep scrolling to find out…

Who was United’s star man at Craven Cottage?

Receiving a whopping 66 per cent of the vote was our goalscorer and match winner, Lisandro Martinez.

The game was threatening to ebb away from the Reds in the latter stages, with Bernd Leno being largely untroubled between the Fulham posts, but sometimes you need a player to step up and force the issue in those circumstances — and a slice of good fortune always helps.

Licha thundered an effort from outside the penalty area with such force that Sasa Lukic’s deflection was enough to take it beyond Leno’s fingertips and into the back of the net.

The Argentina international also performed his usual duties in the centre of defence to a high standard, winning the majority of his tackles and duels, and ensuring the Cottagers could find no way back into the game.

Speaking of strong defensive work, few made an intervention as vital as that of Collyer, who came second in the poll with 11 per cent of the vote.

With the hosts applying ever greater pressure on United’s goal following the opener, it looked like they’d found a route through when Joachim Andersen nodded the ball beyond Andre Onana’s reach into the far corner of the goal.

That was until the crucial act from the Academy graduate, heading the ball off the line at the very last second to keep our lead intact.

Had he not been in the right place at the right time, United could have been heading north with just one point rather than all three.

There were also plenty of fans backing Harry Maguire, Amad and Bruno Fernandes, with the trio each receiving five per cent of the vote for their contributions to the win.

However, it was always going to be difficult to take the award away from the scorer of the winning goal.

Congratulations, Licha, and thank you to everyone who voted.
