As fans vote in their thousands to determine the two main winners of Manchester United’s awards, we canvassed the opinion of our team to find out where their nominatons are going.

Bruno Fernandes is bidding to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the fourth time, which would equal the record set by David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The skipper is the overwhelming favourite to retain the trophy but there are a couple of names forwarded as possible alternatives.

Phallon Tullis-Joyce also looks in a strong position to earn the United Women prize, even if there is plenty of stiff competition for the accolade.

Check out our thoughts and then cast your votes if you have not already.

Steve Bartram (Features editor)

MEN’S: I’d say it’s impossible to look past Bruno Fernandes. A bastion of standards in every single game and an incredibly positive influence on all facets of the club, both on and off the pitch.

WOMEN’S: A lot of plaudits have rightly gone to United’s defensive work, but Grace Clinton has been a sensation this term. Skill, intellect and, perhaps most importantly of all, the true audacity which has underpinned so many great United careers.

Zarah Connolly (MUTV presenter/producer)

MEN’S: I imagine everyone will be going for Bruno Fernandes, but his excellent season has just been the norm for him, so I’m going for Harry Maguire, who I think has improved and stepped up this season, especially when we’ve needed him. He’s enjoying his football, playing freer, putting himself on the line for the team and setting a great example for the younger members of the squad.

WOMEN’S: Phallon Tullis-Joyce springs straight to mind. In comparison to last year, she’s grown an awful lot. She’s far more confident and she’s a key reason behind United having the best defence in the league. Replacing Mary Earps left her some big shoes to fill, but she’s jumped straight into them and never looked back.

Joe Ganley (Senior staff writer)

MEN’S: I nominate Amad with a fair dose of the contrarian spirit. Because we all know, barring something unforeseen in the season’s final weeks, that Bruno will win his fourth Player of the Year award. But Amad deserves a nod: in the first half of this season, he carried our attack, like Fernandes has in recent months. The little playmaker has taken giant steps forward: from unused substitute in last year’s FA Cup final, to a vital force in the starting XI.

WOMEN’S: There are so many worthy candidates, but I think it has to be Maya Le Tissier. She captains the team, she’s always available, she stewards the best defence in the WSL… and she has only just turned 23.

Adam Marshall (Digital managing editor)

MEN’S: While Amad had a superb first half of the season before his injury, it is impossible to overlook Bruno Fernandes’s contribution once again. He has got better and better as the campaign has worn on and nobody can underestimate his influence, on and off the pitch. For me, he’s the perfect captain and a world-class footballer.

WOMEN’S: For her incredible consistency, I’ll go for Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who has been a star in the United goal and a big reason for the team’s superb defensive record this season.

MIKEY PARTINGTON (ManUtd.com journalist)

MEN’S: I can’t look past Bruno Fernandes. The skipper has stood up to be counted in a difficult campaign and really hit his stride since Christmas, be it as a deeper midfielder or one of Ruben Amorim’s striker-supporting middlemen. Amad would have been in the conversation for me too but for the injury that has starved us of enjoying his mesmeric skill and tenacity for much of recent months.

WOMEN’S: I could make a strong case for three or four claiming the award, but I’d ultimately ramble on longest about Phallon Tullis-Joyce, so I’m going there. The American has really owned the step up into the role of first-choice goalkeeper this season, with her form fantastic from day one.

HARRY ROBINSON (Multimedia journalist)

MEN’S: Our best player. Our captain. Our key figure in the big moments. Reds of my generation heard the tales of Bryan Robson. Bruno Fernandes is for us what Robson was for those who came before us.

WOMEN’S: After the departure of Mary Earps, Phallon Tullis-Joyce had really big gloves to fill. She’s filled them, with a unique personality that rubs off on everyone at the club positively.
