What’s the new Amorim chant everyone’s talking about?

It’s the tune everyone’s whistling today: Bonnie Tyler’s ‘It’s a Heartache’, the Monday morning earworm, courtesy of Manchester United’s brilliant away support at Leicester City on Sunday night.
How did it start? Well, it’s been building for some weeks. A video of a small group of Reds singing it in Bucharest picked up some traction at the start of February, just after our trip to play FSCB in the Europa League. And sometimes with a song, it just feels right. This one did.
Back at Old Trafford three days later, those who’d been in the Romanian capital, and others who’d seen the clip online, got it going in the Stretford End.
It’s since had regular airings home and away, but the nature of Sunday’s game — a late kick-off, a strong away end, a comfortable United victory, punctuated by three good goals — meant it was the strongest rendition yet and the world took notice.
Head coach Ruben Amorim was even asked about it in his post-match interview with BBC Sport.

MUTV commentators Liam Bradford and Ben Thornley were enjoying the chant during Sunday’s game, but couldn’t quite remember which tune it was to, as you can see below!
To be fair, it was released way back in late 1977, before peaking at number four in the UK singles chart.

After United’s 3-0 victory, Ruben himself was asked about the chant. He kept the focus very much on improving performances to repay the fans’ support.
“It’s strange,” he said.
“It gives me a lot of responsibility. I know that we are so far away from what they [the fans] expect and what they deserve. I just want to win, to improve our performance, and we are far from what we need to show to our fans.”
