What United sources expect from Irish training camp will make or break Carrick – report

Manchester United last kicked a ball 20 days ago, and to keep themselves fit for the resumption of the Premier League season, they travelled to Dublin for a short training camp. In previous seasons, stories of unrest within the squad, cliques, and much more would have found their way into media headlines. But not under Michael Carrick. The training camp at the luxurious Carton House in County Kildare was a raging success according to club sources. According to The Sun, the Red Devils now feel the camaraderie and intense work put in by the players stands them in good stead for a top-three Premier League finish. It also broke up the cliques. “Club sources believe the blend of hard work and social activities in Ireland has galvanised the squad further to ensure United finish as high as possible in the Premier League.” The opulent surroundings saw the players treat themselves to numerous post-training activities, including head tennis, spa, and golf. United are planning to return to the same venue towards the fag end of their pre-season, ahead of a blockbuster clash against Leeds at Croke Park. Great news for Carrick Interestingly, should what the club sources feel actually materialise and United finish as high as third, Carrick will be the biggest beneficiary. Champions League qualification would be assured, players would be on his side, and INEOS would find it hard to find a better candidate.
