“We are proud”: United set for historic sponsorship moment later in the season – The Athletic

Manchester United are going to have a global AIDS charity as their front of shirt sponsor later on in the season against West Ham United.

The Red Devils came to an agreement in the summer that Snapdragon would replace TeamViewer on the front of the shirt this season.

The club has also increased the exposure of different sponsors as for the first time in the club’s history they have displayed a back of shirt sponsor in chosen matches.

What’s more, the company have also expressed interest in getting involved in any naming rights deal that would help fund the building of a new stadium for the club.

The Athletic report that in another innovation, “Manchester United will showcase a global health charity as its front-of-shirt sponsor for their Premier League match against West Ham United later this season.”

“(RED) will replace current sponsor Snapdragon — a subsidiary of Qualcomm — on the front of United’s home shirt for the penultimate game of the campaign on May 10.”

The U.S. based charity works with famous brands to generate money for people affected by AIDs and other global health pandemics.

The charity’s logo will also be displayed on the Women’s shirt for their match against Arsenal that is scheduled for the 11th of May.

The move is made possible due to the existing deal with Qualcomm which allows the company to nominate a charitable organization to replace the name “Snapdragon” on their shirt for one game a season.

Speaking on the choice of RED, club CEO Omar Berrada stated, “through the power and innovation of our relationship with Qualcomm Technologies we are proud to use the front of the Manchester United shirt to tell the story of the vital work undertaken by (RED) to fight against health injustice.”

RED president Jennifer Lotito commented on her excitement about the partnership and praised the potential of the initiative to raise awareness and get people involved in the charity’s efforts to combat the serious health problem.

“Our thanks to all at Qualcomm and Manchester United – both off the pitch, and on – for making this possible,” she said.
