Voting is open to decide who will win Manchester United’s first Player of the Month prize of the 2025/26 season, in association with Tiger.

The Reds ended the opening month of the new term on a high, as Bruno Fernandes’s 97th-minute penalty secured a first victory of the campaign, against Burnley.

So the picture ahead of the international break looks brighter than it did previously, following the Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town and the draw versus Fulham, which followed a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal in the Premier League.

We’ve picked out three players from Ruben Amorim’s squad who caught the eye in August and are now vying for this individual accolade…

Highlights | The moments that matter from Saturday’s Premier League contest at Old Trafford…

MATTHIJS DE LIGT

The Dutchman has been Amorim’s pick at the heart of the defence, starting each of the three league games stationed between Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw.

Although new boy Matheus Cunha was named our official Man of the Match after the Arsenal game, De Ligt was very impressive too, marshalling Viktor Gyokeres well on the Sweden striker’s debut.

He came on at half-time at Grimsby and went close to scoring twice late on, before slotting away his spot-kick in the eventual penalty shootout defeat.

BRYAN MBEUMO

The July arrival opened his United goal account at Grimsby and followed that up with his first Old Trafford strike for the club, as part of a Man-of-the-Match performance on Saturday.

Despite his penalty miss at Blundell Park, Mbeumo’s Brentford showings have translated well to fresh surroundings, as the Cameroon international has dovetailed nicely with his new team-mates.

Although he was much quieter in the draw at Fulham, his corner helped create our goal, Rodrigo Muniz putting through his own net after Yoro’s header was diverted home by the Cottagers’ forward.

LENY YORO

The cool Frenchman had to bide his time to feature last season due to injury, but he’s now firmly established as a part of Amorim’s first-choice backline.

Leny’s defensive qualities have been obvious in these opening weeks, especially when he slid in to stop Fulham’s Josh King opening the scoring at Craven Cottage.

Just minutes later, he’d played a part in us scoring at the other end and, although he would be denied a maiden Premier League goal, Yoro was later named Man of the Match.

Solid and stylish in all of his outings thus far, this promises to be a season of real progression for the centre-back.
