Video: United star distraught despite win vs Palace, players and legends try to console him

After a poor first-half, Manchester United got their act together in the second 45 minutes to come from a goal down to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday. Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount scored as the Red Devils climbed up to seventh in the Premier League table. While Ruben Amorim will be delighted with the three points, the lethargic first half and the form of Leny Yoro will be concerning. The Frenchman was culpable for Everton’s winner last week, while he gave away the penalty from which Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring on Sunday. Leny Yoro had a day to forget vs Palace Apart from the mistakes, the 20-year-old looked shaky with his passing and Amorim was forced to sub him off early in the second half. The Frenchman looked distraught at the decision, and at full-time, he seemed inconsolable despite his team’s win. Matchwinner Mount was seen consoling him, and encouraging him to forget what transpired on the pitch. pic.twitter.com/a7pFc8lUVL — @UtdAbzy (@AbzMedia2) November 30, 2025 Club legend Rio Ferdinand, who is a fan of the France U21 international took to X to send words of encouragement for the ex-Lille wonderkid. “This game can send you crazy at times… Use these learnings as fuel. He’s a young player + will bounce back. Leny Yoro offered words of encouragement “Hard work, dedication & his talent is tops. New day tomorrow,” the legendary defender wrote on X (formerly Twitter). With Harry Maguire absent, Amorim has been forced to play him more often. Hopefully, now, with Lisandro Martinez back, he can reshuffle things at the back and take the defender out of the firing line if needed. Yoro will want to prove himself on the pitch and it will be interesting to see Amorim’s team selection for the game against West Ham United.
