Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s future continues to be a topic of discussion with less than a week to go for the January transfer window to close.
The Mancunian, after being dropped from the Manchester derby matchday squad by Ruben Amorim, decided to do an interview in which he claimed he was open to leaving his boyhood club.
Since then, the head coach has refused to afford him any gametime with Amorim complaining about the Englishman’s lack of effort in training.
“The reason is the training, what I think a footballer should do in training, in life and every day, every detail. So if things don’t change, I will not change.

“It’s the same situation for every player. If you do the maximum, if you do the right things, we can use every player. I will put in (Jorge) Vital before I put in a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”
United legend Paul Scholes was asked about Amorim’s comments during The Overlap Fan Debate and he explained that the United No 10 had let a lot of people down, including his teammates with his attitude, which has been questioned in the past as well.
The legendary midfielder shared an anecdote from his playing days to drive the point home further and also claimed that while the Carrington graduate should have ideally been a role-model for all the young players coming through the system, he is setting the wrong examples.
“I think Marcus has let a lot of people down really, with his attitude, and I think that’s what the manager is trying to say. You think of the young players coming through the team, think of (Alejandro) Garnacho, they’re looking up to people like Marcus now – he’s 27 years of age, and he’s clearly not training properly.
“I remember years ago when I told the manager (Alex Ferguson) I didn’t want to play in that Arsenal game… he said to me ‘the worst thing you did is let your team-mates down’, and that really stuck with me because I wasn’t really thinking about that – and now I think Marcus Rashford, he’s doing exactly the same.
“OK, he’s not refusing to play, but in the way he’s behaving and the way he’s training, in a way he is saying I don’t want to be involved with these.

“So I think the fact of letting your team-mates down in that dressing room – he should be banished from the dressing room really. If he’s in and around that and young people are seeing that as an example, the sooner he’s gone the better.”
But moving on has proved to be more difficult than anticipated with AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund moving on to other targets due to the England international’s adamant stance of only joining Barcelona.
And so far, the Catalan giants have failed to make space for him in the squad and time is running out for the 27-year-old to find a new home with the Spanish side unlikely to afford his humongous wages.
INEOS want him gone as well as his sale would count as pure profit while getting his wages off the books would help with the club’s not-so-rosy PSR outlook.
