Manchester United legend Gary Neville has highlighted which players need to leave the club this summer.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League and are set for a summer of change in the transfer window.

Matheus Cunha has already been added and the club is making strong progress in a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Speaking on the latest episode of the “It’s called Soccer” podcast, Neville revealed which players he feels have no future at the club under Ruben Amorim.

When discussing what business his former side need to carry out he claimed, “on these five I’m pretty certain. Marcus Rashford has to leave for him and the club. I think that ship has sailed and he needs to find himself another club.”

He asserted that he was nervous that Aston Villa don’t seem to be signing him as that would have been an “easy deal to do”. Elaborating further he stated, “I would say for Marcus’ sake and for United’s sake that it feels like that path has come to an end.”

Neville also expressed concern that Chelsea have been a little non-committal about keeping Jadon Sancho. He claimed, “I’d be a bit concerned that Chelsea haven’t made the noises that they’re going to keep him. Again, Manchester United have to make sure they part ways with him and, from Jadon’s point of view, he has to make sure that he parts ways with Manchester United.”

The former United captain also stated that Antony’s revival in Spain for Real Betis highlights that his future should almost certainly be in La Liga.

“Over there, there’s a different tactical awareness, there’s a different technical ability and there’s a way of playing that’s just more suited to players. I think Antony is perfect for Spain and, again, somebody who Manchester United should facilitate leaving. It’s best for Antony and best for the club.”

Neville also stated that whilst United will probably regret selling Alejandro Garnacho in the future, he also must leave the club due to his public falling out with manager Ruben Amorim.

He stated, “I think if players are taking on the manager and if players are questioning the manager in public through social media or through other means, the manager has to win.”

Nonetheless, one player United must not sell according to Neville is Kobbie Mainoo.

The midfielder has been linked to Chelsea amidst a stand-off over wages in discussions for a new deal at Old Trafford.

Speaking on the England international’s future he claimed, “Mainoo, no. That’s a step too far. If we can’t give Kobbie Mainoo a job in that two in midfield… I look at Mainoo and the way he plays football and I think a top club would want him.”

He queried why United could not find a way to make it work with Mainoo but did state that he probably needs a better partner than Manuel Ugarte or Casemiro to thrive in Amorim’s system.

Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
