Manchester United defender Leny Yoro was spotted limping after he was taken off during his side’s 2-0 defeat against West Ham.

West Ham broke the deadlock just before the half-hour mark through Tomas Soucek. Aaron Wan-Bissaka inadvertently played in Mohammed Kudus, who drilled a low ball into the box, allowing the Czech midfielder to slot home from close range.

The visitors doubled their lead shortly after the break when Jarrod Bowen arrived unmarked at the back post to tuck away a well-placed cross.

Beyond the disappointing defeat, the other major concern is Yoro’s fitness. The defender started in the centre of the back-three, alongside Noussair Mazraoui and Luke Shaw.

The Frenchman was however taken off in the early stages of the second half with an injury to his left foot.

Yoro was replaced by Harry Maguire and he headed straight down the tunnel. As he walked off the pitch, his body language wasn’t encouraging.

The teenage defender looked inconsolable, pulling his jersey over his face, perhaps to hide a tear or two, as the reality of the situation sank in.

Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston shared a video showing Yoro leaving Old Trafford, visibly limping and walking with noticeable discomfort, further fuelling concerns over the extent of his injury.

The silver lining is that he was not using crutches and his foot was not in a protective boot.

In his post-match press conference, Amorim told reporters, “We have to assess Leny in a better way tomorrow. He felt something but I think it could be a small thing.”

In a separate interview with Sky Sports, the United head coach explained, “He had that problem at the beginning of the season. We hope it’s not too serious. I don’t want to say too much but maybe it’s not a big deal.”

United and Amorim will be hoping that the issue is not serious and Yoro returns just in time for the Europa League final in 10 days.
