Video: “He was dead”: Amorim explains a major shift from Ten Hag era he will implement at United

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has claimed that he will need to rotate heavily in the coming weeks.

The Red Devils have already embarked on a crazy fixture schedule that will see them play nine times in the month of December in three different competitions.

Previous manager Erik ten Hag was often lambasted by fans for his insistence on playing certain players into the ground and some argued this was part of the reason behind United’s massive injury problems last year.

Therefore, it was a surprise for many supporters to see a heavily rotated side from the weekend announced last night.

Amorim made six changes to the starting line up and hinted that he will do exactly the same thing on Sunday against Everton.

Speaking to TNT sports he claimed he was happy with the progress of the team and explained, “we improved with the quality of the ball, we had more chances, we were more dangerous but we will have to change players.”

Elaborating on why he felt the need to rotate he explained, “you can feel it, we tried to press all the time and I think the last 10 minutes were tough.”´

“It is different for the players. I felt Rasmus (Hojlund) was dead. I felt that some players were really, really tired.”

Amorim then clarified that most of his changes during the game were forced upon him due to fitness rather than tactical tweaks and this is something he will want to change in the future.

“Antony came from injury, he had to go out of the game. I think we did four substitutions because of the fitness of the players, not thinking what was best for the game.”

“We are in that moment, we need the squad all together, fit and you need to take some risks and that is it”

The Peoples Person has already relayed that United ran significantly less than Ipswich at the weekend and this is something that Amorim will aim to address as he demands immense intensity from his teams.

There was a clear attempt to run and press more last night, but United’s players will need time to build up the fitness to do this every match and with a consistency they never managed under Erik ten Hag.

Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
