Video: Christian Eriksen names his ultimate five-a-side team, it includes two iconic ex-United teammates

Former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has named his ultimate five-a-side team, and it includes two former Reds.

Eriksen joins Wolfsburg after United exit

Earlier this month, Eriksen finally landed a new club after waiting the entire summer transfer window to learn his next destination.

He was a free agent after United released him upon the expiry of his contract. The Dane was linked to the likes of Ajax, Wrexham, Burnley and even a return to Tottenham Hotspur, but these moves never materialised.

Wolfsburg then swooped in and secured his signature. He put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Bundesliga outfit.

Eriksen joined United in the summer of 2022 and turned out 107 times for the club, helping them lift the Carabao Cup in the two seasons prior to 2024/25.

The midfield technician scored eight goals for the Red Devils.

As he begins his new chapter with Wolfsburg, Eriksen sat down with ESPN and shared the players who would make up his ideal five-a-side team.

Eriksen picks his dream five-a-side team

In goal, Eriksen chose legendary United goalkeeper David de Gea. The two played together for one campaign before De Gea was brutally let go by Erik ten Hag.

Eriksen named just one defender – fellow countryman Daniel Agger, who previously played for Liverpool. In midfield, Eriksen elected to go for Mousa Dembele. Dembele and Eriksen were teammates at Tottenham.

On his reasons for selecting Dembele, Eriksen said, “No, exactly [Dembele never loses the ball]. That’s why he’s the best in five-a-side.”

“I think I’ll play him in five-a-side.”

He picked two attackers – Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Eriksen said about Ronaldo, “Obviously when you played with Cristiano you probably have to put him in at some point. So it’d be Cristiano and Harry Kane as the strikers.
