Ethan Wheatley Wheatley hit the headlines in 2024 when he became the club’s 250th academy graduate to play for the first team. He struggled for chances in the first team, so was sent out on loan to Walsall last season but had little impact. The young striker started the season on loan at Northampton Town in League Two, but was sent out to Bradford City in League One in January. The striker has failed to score a goal since switching to the Bantams but has seen significant minutes for the promotion chasers. Wheatley played 70 minutes of Bradford’s 2-0 away win over Port Vale last night. He was very active, having five shots on goal, four of which hit the target. One shot was even classified as a big chance missed in the match. He showed his power and pace early on by beating two Port Vale defenders and running from the halfway line. Unfortunately, he could not take his chance as he hit the one-on-one straight at the Vale keeper. He had another effort that was well stopped by the goalkeeper, and his wait for a goal continues. The young striker also completed 100% of his dribble attempts and won six duels in the match. He will next be in action when Bradford travel to Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon. Mared Griffiths The young Welsh striker returned from international duty, fresh off a couple of goals for her national side against Montenegro. She played the final 25 minutes of Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest. Unfortunately, she could not find the back of the net and could only pick up a yellow card during her time on the pitch.
