Manchester United duo Amad and Bryan Mbeumo went head-to-head in the Africa Cup of Nations. Mbeumo provided an assist in Cameroon’s opening match while Amad scored the only goal of the game for Ivory Coast in a win. Amad Amad has taken the Africa Cup of Nations by storm so far, scoring his second goal in two games. The United wing-back received the ball out wide on the counter-attack. He ran at the Cameroonian defence before cutting inside and unleashing an unstoppable left-footed shot into the top corner. The Ivorian was a constant threat to the Cameroonian goal, registering five shots on goal, two of which were blocked. Amad was also at his creative best, making four key passes and creating one big chance for his side during the match. He also managed to complete three of his four cross attempts, demonstrating accuracy. Defensively, he won two duels and 100% of his tackles as his side held on for a 1-1 draw with the Indomitable Lions. Ivory Coast and Amad will play their final group game against Gabon on 31st December. Bryan Mbeumo The United attacker had a quieter evening than his teammate but still managed to influence the match. He had a total of three shots on goal, one of which was blocked by the Ivorian defence. Mbeumo completed one dribble attempt and one cross, but was largely frustrated by the vigilant Ivory Coast defence. He did help out defensively, winning three duels and making two defensive recoveries in the game. Cameroon will finish their group stage against Mozambique on New Year’s Eve.
