Manchester United’s Amad progressed safely to the quarter-final of the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast. Tournament so far He has been in sensational form as his side have so far proven themselves to be one of the best teams on the African continent. Amad had previously scored two goals in the group stage and has been a vital component of his side’s progress. The winger was in sensational form as Ivory Coast eased past Burkina Faso in a 3-0 victory. Unplayable The 23-year-old opened the scoring with a wonderful individual goal after 20 minutes of play. He was played through on goal and delightfully faked a chip with his left foot before dinking the ball over the onrushing keeper with his right. It was his third strike of the competition and showed immense composure that United fans will hope he can replicate when he returns from international duty. Amad turned provider after 32 minutes when he assisted Yan Diomande, a player recently heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. The United man ran at the Burkina Faso full-back and squared the ball across goal where Diomande finished clinically to extend the Ivorians’ lead. He had a total of five shots on goal, with two hitting the target. He also missed one big chance to add to his goal tally. The winger made two key passes and completed 93% of his attempts. Amad also helped out defensively, winning two of his three tackles and also completing six of his 10 contested ground duels. Ivory Coast now face the huge challenge of facing Egypt in the quarter-finals on Saturday evening.
