“Very advanced with all parties”: United near breakthrough in rebel star’s permanent exit to rival club – Fabrizio Romano

Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Chelsea is reportedly on the brink of completion, as talks with Manchester United progress.

Chelsea working on late deal for Garnacho

Garnacho did not feature in United’s pre-season preparations and has yet to play even a single minute of competitive action so far this term.

This comes after the forward was banished from the first-team by Ruben Amorim as their relationship irreparably broke down towards the end of last season. Garnacho publicly questioned Amorim’s decision to name him on the bench for the Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur, while also casting doubts over his future at Old Trafford.

Amorim responded by informing the player to look for a new club as his services were no longer needed.

There has been no shortage of suitors for Garnacho but Chelsea have consistently been named as his preferred transfer destination. He agreed personal terms with the Blues and talks have been going on with United to try and strike a deal.

United value the Argentine at £50m but Chelsea are prepared to fork out significantly less than £40m. Chelsea have tried offering some of their players including Tyrique George, but the 20-time English champions have been adamant that only a straight sale will suffice.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Chelsea were advancing in talks to snap up the Carrington academy graduate. Now an update has emerged, indicating that a breakthrough is now well within reach.

United and Chelsea nearing agreement for Garnacho

According to talkSPORT, “There is an expectation that a deal for the Argentinian will be completed before the transfer window shuts on September 1.”

“Man United continue to insist on £50million. Chelsea have had multiple bids rejected and are not yet close to that number. Yet all parties expect to find a compromise before the week is out. Garnacho has already agreed terms with the Blues.”

This information has been corroborated by Romano, who further noted that Garnacho recently rebuffed an approach from the Saudi Pro League.

The Italian journalist wrote on X, “Alejandro Garnacho and Chelsea, deal remains very advanced with all parties expected it to happen.”

“Garnacho has rejected new approach from Saudi Pro League in last 48h, he only wants Chelsea as destination.”
