United’s plan to upgrade dreadful Ten Hag signing thrown into panic after PL rival muscles in on deal – report

AFC Bournemouth are set to rival Manchester United for the signing of RCD Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

Ruben Amorim has reportedly grown weary of Andre Onana’s erratic form and would ideally like to sign a goalkeeper in the summer to compete with him for the number one spot.

Onana was recently dropped against Newcastle United in the league after an horrendous showing versus Olympique Lyonnais in the Europa League.

Consequently, United have been linked with numerous keepers such as Zion Suzuki, Illan Meslier, Álex Remiro and Lucas Chevalier.

Another keeper who has reportedly caught Amorim’s eye is Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, who has enjoyed a fantastic season in La Liga.

They face significant competition for the Catalan’s signature however, as Arsenal and Aston Villa have both expressed serious interest in signing the shot stopper.

Fichajes add another name to the mix as they report that Bournemouth are also keen to get involved in the race for him.

The site reports that “Bournemouth are vying for the signature of one of La Liga’s most outstanding goalkeepers” and are willing to pay €30 million for his services.

Numerous English sides see him as an opportunity to strengthen their goalkeeping department with one of “the most outstanding talents in the Spanish league.”

The Cherries reportedly see value in the keeper as he could lockdown their number one spot for years to come and that he appears “ready for bigger challenges.”

Espanyol for their part are said to be aware that as interest grows, it will become harder and harder for them to keep one of their most valuable stars.

The 24 year old has helped his side rise to 14th in the table, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
