Chelsea deal deadly blow to United’s transfer plan with €60 million bid for Amorim’s dream target – report

Chelsea are reportedly chasing Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils are keen to improve their attacking options this summer and have been heavily linked to a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.

Nonetheless, news has broken recently that Ruben Amorim is also keen to add Brentford’s Mbeumo alongside the Brazil international.

Fabrizio Romano stated just yesterday that Cunha is the main target but it is an “open race” for the Cameroonian.

United have still been linked to the Brentford attacker in case they can’t land their top striker targets such as Liam Delap.

Mbeumo’s versatility and ability to play in numerous attacking positions is said to appeal to the Red Devils.

Fichajes now report that rivals Chelsea could throw a spanner in the works and have expressed their own interest in him.

The Spanish site asserts that the Blues are “willing to spend €60 million to sign the striker who is making waves in the Premier League.”

The Stamford Bridge side reportedly view Mbeumo as “the ideal player to breathe new life into its forward line.”

The 25 year old is seen as such a catch by a significant amount of Premier League teams owing to his “speed, ability to run down the flanks, and goalscoring prowess” which have made him “one of the most coveted strikers around.”

Mbeumo has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 18 goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.

It is asserted in the article that while it is unknown whether Brentford would accept a deal at €60 million, it would certainly open the door to negotiations.

Therefore, if United are in fact interested in him, they better get their skates on as Chelsea do not usually hang around, as they learnt to their cost in the Geovany Quenda deal.

Alex is a huge Manchester United fan, inspired by greats of his homeland such as George Best, Harry Gregg and Norman Whiteside. Proud owner of such niche shirts such as Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and Gary Neville. Grew up pretending to be Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the back garden, with little success.
