United’s new superstar sweeps club’s monthly awards after scintillating start to life at Old Trafford

Bryan Mbeumo has made an immediate impact since arriving at Manchester United this summer from Brentford.

The Cameroonian forward was outstanding for the Bees last season, registering 20 goals and nine assists from 42 games across all competitions.

His efforts convinced the Old Trafford hierarchy to make him a priority target this summer. After a lengthy pursuit, United finally secured Mbeumo’s signature for a reported £71m fee.

The 26 year old has hit the ground running with the Red Devils so far, registering two goals from four games. The player has endeared himself to fans as well, as is evident by the results of an official poll.

United have now announced that Mbemo has won the Player of the Month award for August, ahead of Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt. The Cameroonian’s first Premier League strike for the club was also voted as the Goal of the Month.

Mbeumo has added a new dimension to United’s attack

Mbeumo made his debut for the Red Devils against Arsenal in the first game of the new Premier League season. Although Ruben Amorim’s team succumbed to a narrow 1-0 defeat, the Cameroonian caught the eye with his efforts.

Mbeumo played a part in Rodrigo Muniz’s own goal that gave United the lead against Fulham in Matchday 2, but the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Cameroonian scored his first goal for the Red Devils against Grimsby Town in the EFL Cup, kick-starting a comeback from 2-0 down. Unfortunately, United lost the game 12-11 in penalties, with the former Brentford man missing his second spot kick.

Mbeumo, however, made up for it by finding the back of the net in the 3-2 win over Burnley last weekend. The Cameroonian was excellent against the Clarets, and was also adjudged the Man of the Match.

Mbeumo has won over fans

Mbeumo received 54% of the votes in the official poll, while Yoro came second with 29%. De Ligt received 17% of the votes to finish third.

The Cameroonian’s strike against Burnley won the Goal of the Month award with over half of the votes, while his goal at Blundell Park finished second.

Interestingly, Mbeumo has also caught the eye with his national team during the international break. With the Manchester Derby up next, fans will be hoping that the player can continue his impressive form against Pep Guardiola’s team.
