United Women set to complete stunning “marquee” signing with “all the paperwork complete” – The Guardian

Manchester United Women appear poised to complete another impressive winter signing. Busy post-Christmas Head coach Marc Skinner has spoken at length about the importance of signing players during this winter window. He has emphasised that he loves his current group of players but that they need help to compete for all four trophies they are contesting, especially the Champions League knockout stages. So far, the club have responded by bringing in much-needed full-back support through the signing of Sweden international Hanna Lundkvist. Yesterday, it was also announced that the club had successfully tied down Hinata Miyazawa to a long-term deal at the club. Lea Schuller United are also looking to strengthen their attack, and increasing rumours suggest they are closing in on a move for Bayern Munich’s Schüller. The Guardian reports that “Manchester United are set to complete the signing of the Germany striker Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.” The article continues to state that, “Schüller, who has six months left on her contract, has been a prolific goalscorer for club and country, scoring more than 100 goals for Bayern and 54 times in 82 games for her country.” The forward has an impressive reputation across the continent, “and she will be seen as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League side.” There have been links since the middle of the month suggesting that the forward would be leaving Germany. What’s more, “according to multiple sources, all the paperwork is now finalised for the transfer” and the 28-year-old will be a United player in the near future. Schüller will add welcome competition to the forward line for Elisabeth Terland and Melvine Malard, as United Women will need to balance four competitions for the first time in their history.
