United Women closing in on signing “creative and explosive” attacker with incredible goalscoring record – The Athletic

Manchester United Women have shown great ambition during this window and do not appear to be stopping any time soon. Successful January United are competing in four competitions and will need to navigate more matches than they have ever played in their history in 2026. Manager Marc Skinner has already discussed the need for signings, and the club seems to be delivering. Swedish defender Hanna Lundkvist and German striker Lea Schuller have already been signed this month. What’s more, influential midfielder Hinata Miyazawa has signed a new long-term deal with the club. United want more The Athletic reports that United are still looking to bolster their attack as they are “also working on closing a deal for Sweden striker Ellen Wangerheim from Hammarby.” The exciting 21-year-old “has made 138 appearances for Hammarby, scoring 65 goals and played a significant role in the club’s historic double two seasons ago.” It must be stressed, though, that no deal has been signed yet between the two sides and that personal terms still need to be thrashed out. Were a deal to be concluded, “Wangerheim would join former Hammarby players Julia Zigiotti Olme, Fridolina Rolfo, Anna Sandberg and Hanna Lundkvist” at the club. Swedish paper Sportbladet is more optimistic about a deal, though, and reports, “negotiations have been ongoing for a long time, but now the parties are extremely close to an agreement.” She has been described as an attacker who is “creative, effective, and explosive”. Her ability to blend her skills with her teammates and work with them has been highlighted by scouts and is something United fans will be excited to see should a deal occur. Geyse The Athletic also provides an update on Brazilian Geyse’s future. She returned from her loan at Gotham City, but it has now been revealed that she will not be staying in Manchester. The outlet reports that, “Manchester United forward Geyse is set to join Mexican side Club America on a permanent deal.” Ellen Wangerheim goal record TeamMatchesGoalsYears Active Hammarby138652020- Sweden 502024- Source: fotmob.com Feature image Luca Amedeo Bizzarri via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
