Brazilian winger Antony has spoken on his long term future as he continues to impress in his loan spell with La Liga side, Real Betis.
The 25-year-old was allowed to leave Old Trafford in the winter transfer window and has found some form on the continent, notching four goals in all competitions and providing some eye catching displays.
With the season nearing its conclusion, speculation has begun regarding the forward’s long term plans but Antony insists it’s still “too early” to decide his future.
As reported by The Mirror, Antony told Mundo Deportivo he is loving life in Spain but isn’t ready to cement his plans beyond the end of the current campaign.
“I’m very happy here (Betis), but it’s still too early to decide. I enjoy every day in the Betis shirt.
“I identify a lot with the fans because of the feeling; we Brazilians are like that too,” he said.
The Betis fans have certainly taken to the winger who has lit up the Estadio Benito Villamarín at times and the home faithful will be desperate for the club to make the deal permanent in the summer.
However, financial restraints could complicate a potential transfer with teammate Isco insisting the club need a crowd funding to ensure he stays for another year at least.
It’s clear the former Ajax man is suited to the pace in Europe, rather than the helter-skelter nature of the Premier League, in which he has struggled to make an impact.
The mega money transfer to United came with the expectations of goals and assists but after almost two years of poor form in Manchester, INEOS will almost certainly be cutting their losses in the upcoming market.
Atletico Madrid have also emerged as surprise potential suitors, underlining the impact Antony has made in Spain and leaving United in with a chance of sparking a bidding war to secure his services.
Meanwhile, United continue to struggle in attacking areas, with Tuesday’s loss to Nottingham Forest another stark example of the lack of quality in Amorim’s squad.
A busy summer is certainly on the cards at the Theatre of Dreams and it’s expected Antony will be used to bolster the transfer kitty with Amorim desperate to build a side that is better suited to his playing style.
