United will be looking to create history when they face Wolves in final match of 2025

Manchester United welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford tonight in the last game of 2025 for the club. The two sides have played each other 116 times in total. The Red Devils have won 57 matches and there have been 20 draws. Wolves have been on the winning side 39 times in the contest. Here are three storylines to look forward to. Man United vs Wolves Fixture history Man United winsDrawsWolves Wins 572039 United’s strong recent record over Wolves The Red Devils were poor against Wolverhampton Wanderers last season, losing both games at home and away. This has not been the typical trend, though, as United ran out 4-1 winners at Molineux earlier this month. In fact, “Man Utd have won eight of their last 11 Premier League matches against Wolves.” Before last season, United had won seven of eight matches against the Black Country side between 2022 and 2024. Chance to make history With the way Premier League fixtures are usually spread out, it is highly unusual to play a team twice in the same season, let alone in the same month. Nonetheless, United are about to play Wolverhampton Wanderers for the second time in just over three weeks, having travelled to Molineux on 8th December. According to The BBC, “this is the third time Manchester United have faced an opponent twice in the same month in the Premier League.” In February 2023, they won and drew two matches against Leeds United, and in December 1998, they drew twice against Chelsea. Therefore, if they win tonight, it will be the first time they have beaten a Premier League team twice in the league in the same month. United looking to buck a recent trend United kept up their tradition of positive results on Boxing Day with a tight 1-0 win over Newcastle United. Nonetheless, the last match of the calendar year has not been so kind to the Red Devils lately. “Manchester United lost their last league game in both 2023 (vs Nottingham Forest) and 2024 (vs Newcastle).” The last time that they lost their final league game in three consecutive calendar years was between 1980 and 1982. They will certainly be hoping to avoid this scenario this evening, as it would be an incredibly deflating way to end the year.
