Manchester United are currently not hot on the heels of Victor Osimhen, despite various reports suggesting the club are actively working to get a deal over the line.
United have struggled in front of goal this season, netting just 33 goals in 27 Premier League matches. Ruben Amorim is understood to be keen on reinforcing his options during the upcoming summer transfer window and Osimhen has been mentioned to be on the shortlist.
The Red Devils have been linked to Osimhen at various stages of his career but a transfer has never materialised. However, Napoli are now eager to part ways with him after the player attempted to force his way out of the club last summer – a move that prompted the Serie A club to sanction his loan exit to Galatasaray.
So far this season at Galatasaray, Osimhen has plundered an impressive 20 goals and provided an additional five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Osimhen is open to joining United in the summer. The Nigerian superstar is thought to want around £413,000 per week to commit his services to Amorim’s side – it’s unclear whether United are willing to meet this demand.
A subsequent report covered by The Peoples Person claimed that United are willing to use Rasmus Hojlund as a makeweight to land Osimhen.
However, according to journalist Christopher Michel, United’s interest in Osimhen is currently not as strong as it’s being made out in some quarters.
Michel wrote on X, “Victor Osimhen is currently not a hot topic at Manchester United.”
“You never know how the market will develop. But that’s exactly the kind of transfer the club normally no longer wants to make.”

If United ultimately walk away from a deal for Osimhen, it would be disappointing for several reasons — the biggest being that few strikers of his quality are both available at a reasonable price and open to a move to Old Trafford.
He is both a guaranteed source of goals and boasts a wealth of experience that could rub off on the younger forwards including academy sensation Chido Obi.
