United to pay tribute to Gary ‘Mani’ MounfieldSunday 25 January 2026 14:04Manchester United will pay a subtle tribute to the late Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Arsenal. The legendary bass player with The Stone Roses and Primal Scream passed away in November at the age of 63.  A proud and passionate Red, Mani’s passing inspired an emotional reaction across the United family and fans around the world were saddened by the news.  His funeral at Manchester Cathedral was notably attended by club legends David Beckham and Gary Neville. Our players will wear jackets with ‘Mani 1962-2025’ printed under the crest.The Stone Roses’ music has continued to shape matchday culture and fashion since their seminal self-titled album was released in 1989.  “I always wanted the Roses to be associated with United and the terraces,” Mani once told us.On Sunday afternoon, United’s men’s team will walk out of the tunnel wearing jackets with ‘Mani 1962-2025’ printed beneath the club crest.  Look out for the tribute before kick-off against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.  Thanks for the memories and the music, Mani.Recommended:Sunday 25 January 2026 14:04Back to Top
