United to offer €80m plus Mason Mount in desperate attempt to sign 27-yo star in bombshell transfer – report

Manchester United’s attempt to strengthen their midfield this summer has taken them into enemy territory. On Monday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are “considering a stunning move” to sign Alexis Mac Allister from Liverpool.  The two clubs have not sanctioned a direct transfer between them for over six decades. Still, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his associates are reportedly hoping to provide an escape route for Mac Allister, who has experienced a challenging season under Arne Slot. Manchester United preparing outrageous offer for Alexis Mac Allister According to Fichajes, Alexis Mac Allister has become Manchester United’s “top target”. The decision-makers at Old Trafford admire the World Cup-winning midfielder’s technical ability and leadership qualities. With Casemiro set to depart at the end of the campaign, United believe the Argentina international would be an ideal option to lead their midfield from next season onwards. The “incredible” midfielder is tied to Anfield until the summer of 2028. Needless to say, Liverpool are not open to selling him, least of all to their fierce rivals United. The Spanish outlet claims United are considering including players in their proposal to convince Liverpool. Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount have all been mentioned as possibilities. As part of the deal, United are reportedly willing to offer €80 million as well. The report adds: “The operation seems complex, but not impossible.” Mason Mount has become surplus to requirements at Manchester United Liverpool were keen on signing Mason Mount from Chelsea in 2023. However, the Englishman ultimately decided to move to Old Trafford and become the Red Devils’ number seven. After his struggles under Erik ten Hag, Mount showed signs of promise as a wide playmaker during Ruben Amorim’s reign. However, the attacking midfielder finds himself in direct competition with Bruno Fernandes following the side’s return to a 4-2-3-1 formation. As such, United should consider the possibility of cashing in on out-of-favour players like Mount and Ugarte to fund their midfield revamp.
