United to make staggering bid for 25-yo star, personal terms “verbally agreed”, deal now “hinges on final details” – report

Manchester United are willing to make a significantly improved offer for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, as per reports.

It’s been more than three weeks since The Athletic reported that United have convinced high-flying Premier League star Mbeumo to join their project despite interest from Champions League clubs Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United.

Early in June, United also submitted an opening offer of £45 million and £10m in add-ons for the 25-year-old.

However, Brentford turned down the Red Devils’ proposal, underlining that it is going to cost significantly more to sign the forward, who scored 20 goals in the Premier League during the 2024/25 season.

Now, according to TEAMtalk journalist Rudy Galetti, United are prepared to pay around £63m plus add-ons for the Cameroon international.

However, Galetti adds that “final details” with the Bees are yet to be defined but there’s expectation a consensus will be found soon.

It has been widely reported that Brentford are demanding United to match the fee they paid to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

United triggered a £62.5m release clause to sign the Brazilian from Wolves. As such, it is not far-fetched to assume a fee in the region of £63m should be enough to satisfy Brentford’s demands.

Following Spurs’ appointment of Thomas Frank as their manager, the North Londoners intensified their interest in Mbeumo, but that development is unlikely to have any impact on United’s pursuit.

In his report, Galetti reveals “personal terms have already been verbally agreed upon.”

The arrival of Mbeumo alongside Cunha should improve United’s attack considerably. However, Ruben Amorim is still without a reliable striker to get the best out of Mbeumo and Cunha’s creativity as wide playmakers.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Amorim is frustrated by the lack of summer signings.
