United striker up for awardFriday 06 March 2026 10:00Chido Obi is competing to win the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for February. The Manchester United striker has been in excellent form and has seven challengers for the trophy, presented for efforts across the month at Under-21s level. The undoubted highlight of this spell came when he bagged all four goals in the 4-1 away victory at Leicester City on 23 February. Scoring twice late on, he produced a clinical display of finishing to help Adam Lawrence’s side pull off a fine success on the road. Obi has also been a key part of our Under-18s’ bid for FA Youth Cup glory, scoring in the most recent outing in the competition, at Oxford United. Darren Fletcher’s side face Sunderland in the quarter-finals at Old Trafford on Wednesday 18 March, kicking off at 19:00 GMT. Unfortunately, Chido suffered a head injury early into the Under-21s’ defeat to Chelsea on Monday night, so we wish him well in his recovery. The nominees for this award have been selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel, who will also decide the winner on a date to be decided.PL2 PLAYER OF THE MONTH SHORTLIST Joshua Ajala (West Ham United) Brayden Clarke (Arsenal) Reyan Clayton (West Ham United) Rio Kyerematen (Tottenham Hotspur) Kian Noble (Manchester City) CHIDO OBI (UNITED) Tommy Setford (Arsenal) Matty Warhurst (Manchester City)Recommended: ArticleBenjamin will compete against five other names for the Premier League’s February prize.
