United striker target lets rip with social media outburst, could ramp up blockbuster move to Old Trafford – report

Manchester United’s search for a striker in this summer’s transfer market is no secret and a host of high profile stars have been linked with bolstering the firepower at the tip of Ruben Amorim’s attack.

Juventus forward Dušan Vlahović is one of the names reportedly on the shortlist at Old Trafford and it seems the 25-year-old is certainly edging for a move out of Turin.

As reported by Italian media, the striker caused a stir on social media after Juve’s World Club Cup exit at the hands of Real Madrid earlier this week, lending to the theory that his time at the club could be coming to an end.

After the defeat, Vlahović liked a celebratory post from Jude Bellingham who was part of the Madrid side that swept aside the Old Lady in Miami.

The Serbian international, who spent the game watching from the bench, then posted a pair of cryptic photos captioned “devet” which is the number “nine” in his native language.

With Juventus close to agreeing a deal for Jonathan David, the posts could well be in reaction to the likelihood Thiago Motta no longer regards him as a key part of his squad moving forward.

Vlahović’s actions will no doubt have been noted by Motta, as well as the Juve fans, who have found themselves in a similar situation to United over the last few years.

No longer at the top of the tree in their domestic leagues, both clubs are aiming to reach the heights of yesteryear and the pair could find themselves doing business for the striker in the coming weeks.

United’s need for a potent number nine is clear and whilst Vlahović might not be seen as a priority target just yet, the latest tantrum might persuade Juve to offload the Serb for a cut price fee.

Therefore, United could be tempted to strike a deal for the striker at a cost that still allows them to add another player within this summer’s restricted budget.

It’s believed an offer of €25 million would be enough for the Serie A giants to cut ties with a player who has scored 58 goals over three seasons since joining from Fiorentina.

Turkish duo, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are seen as United’s competition for Vlahović with Saudi clubs also registering an interest but given his age and profile, it would be a surprise to see him move to the Middle East.

No doubt the big Serb would give Amorim another option up front and if Rasmus Hojlund ends his turbulent stay in Manchester, United could be in the marker for more than one number nine this summer, adding more stock a potential deal.

No formal offer for Vlahović has been made by United but they will certainly be aware of the latest developments and will be on high alert with pre-season just around the corner.
