United strike gold in pursuit of “incredible” title-winning winger, INEOS already in contact over deal – report

Manchester United have reportedly been handed a major boost in their pursuit of William Gomes, despite two new clubs entering an already red-hot race for the Brazilian winger. Wing Wizard Gomes has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in Liga Portugal after a superb season for FC Porto, who strolled to the title with only two losses and 18 goals conceded. The report states that while Porto are “currently not considering a transfer”, even if sources in Portugal suggest the contrary, they are prepared to come to the negotiating table if a €45m offer is submitted. This would constitute a 50% reduction from Gomes’ release clause, explaining why United remain in the hunt for the Sao Paulo native despite a deal looking exorbitant at first glance. The long-term future of Patrick Dorgu, whether as left-back or left wing, will likely decide whether INEOS escalate their interest. Elsewhere, the Red Devils are also understood to be exploring West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville as an option, with a growing sense that INEOS’ focus on a midfield revamp is forcing the club to consider cheaper options out wide.
