Manchester United academy product Marcus Rashford is enjoying a successful spell at FC Barcelona this season. Success The on-loan star won his first trophy with the Blaugrana as they beat Real Madrid 3-2 in the Spanish Super Cup at the weekend. Well deserved, boys! Time to enjoy it. 🏆 pic.twitter.com/AOc0xjdtMg — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) January 12, 2026 Rashford has also scored seven goals and provided 11 assists in 27 matches for the Catalans. There have been mixed reports on what FC Barcelona will decide to do with Rashford at the end of the season, but the latest news is certainly seemingly more positive for the England international. It is unclear whether the departure of Ruben Amorim as United manager will affect Rashford’s thinking, but he did state in a recent interview that his desire is to extend his stay in Catalonia. Recent reports also seem to suggest that Barcelona have made a decision to keep the player beyond this summer and make his move permanent, as they would “love” to keep him at the Camp Nou. Latest developments Catalan paper Sport reports that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, “met with Marcus Rashford’s agent at the Ritz-Carlton hotel, where the team is staying during this tour. The informal and informative meeting served to get an update on the British player’s situation and confirm the positive feelings the club has about Rashford.” The paper states that, “they are very happy with his performance and his attitude from day one. Rashford has fit in seamlessly with the group, quickly adapted to the team’s way of working, and maintains a very close relationship with his teammates.” It is warned that it is still too early for Barcelona to commit to any financial decisions for the summer, but the idea of him staying is certainly “gaining traction”. The paper explains that, “there’s no rush, but there is an internal feeling that it’s an interesting opportunity, both from a sporting and financial perspective,” with United’s €30 million valuation. The club are especially said to like his versatility to play in numerous attacking positions across the season. Rashford will hope to make a return to the starting line-up when Barcelona travel to face Racing Santander in the last sixteen of La Copa del Rey on Thursday evening.
