United star’s agent shuts down loan exit rumours in clear statement about his client’s future

The agent of Manchester United defender Diego Leon has played down claims that he will be loaned out during the upcoming winter transfer window. Leon still settling into life at United United agreed to sign Leon in January this year, but he officially completed the move from Cerro PorteƱo during the summer. The Red Devils and Cerro PorteƱo struck a deal at around the Ā£3.2m mark, but there are add-ons that could see the figure rise to Ā£7m. He travelled with the senior squad for pre-season but is still awaiting his competitive first-team debut. Undoubtedly a top talent, it remains clear that Leon is raw and still has plenty to do before he is ready to regularly play football at the highest level. The 18-year-old has made six appearances for United at youth level. He scored a memorable solo goal in October during a 4-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur Under-21. Ruben Amorim named Leon on the bench for Premier League matches against Manchester City, Brentford and Sunderland. He was also part of the matchday squad that suffered a heavy defeat to League Two outfit Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are keen on letting Leon leave on loan, where he will get guaranteed first-team minutes. INEOS-owned OGC Nice emerged as a likely destination for the Paraguayan talent. However, Leon’s agent, Renato Bittar, has insisted there are no clear loan plans. He noted that it wouldn’t be ideal to cut short Leon’s development in the United youth ranks. Leon’s agent makes statement Bittar said [as quoted by Manchester World], ā€œThey did a ā€˜One with arrow’, about his move to Nice, the truth is that he is living exactly what we planned.ā€ ā€œWe are not clear if he will go out on loan now, it wouldn’t be good to cut his season short.ā€ He added, ā€œHe is evolving, adding minutes in the Under-21 and that is positive.ā€ Meanwhile, Amorim and his players return to action on Monday when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford. Kick-off is at 8pm. Featured image Molly Darlington via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
