Manchester United set two new attendance records during their Sunday meeting with Arsenal in the Women’s Super League.
United and Arsenal share the spoils
United went into the clash with Arsenal full of confidence after a 3-0 victory over SK Brann, overturning a first-leg deficit to secure their place in the 2025/26 Champions League league phase.
Like United, Arsenal also had a 100% record in the WSL. However, the two sides cancelled each other out as they played out a goalless stalemate.
With genuine opportunities at a premium, the contest concluded with the sides taking a point apiece.
After the final whistle, Marc Skinner hailed his players for salvaging something after a demanding mid-week performance in Europe.
Skinner also lauded the United fans for turning out in record numbers at Leigh Sports Village.
Now, it has been revealed that United broke two attendance records.
United set two new attendance records
According to GOAL, United sold 9,000 tickets but 8,665 fans turned up for the clash vs. Arsenal, setting a new club record.
United’s home matches with Arsenal have consistently drawn plenty of supporters and this season was no different. In the 2023/24, 2024/25 and now 2025/26 campaigns, 8,312, 8,348 and 8,665 fans respectively walked through the turnstiles.
In addition to a club record, Skinner’s side also set a new WSL attendance record.
United have surpassed their previous record, now holding the league’s best attendance for a fixture played away from a men’s stadium.
It’s worth noting that Leigh Sports Village, with a capacity of 12,000, is the largest stadium in the WSL not shared with a Premier League side or a men’s first team.
United are back in action on Sunday when they go away to Liverpool.
