Mercedes-Benz Stadium

When it comes to world-leading sports venues, nobody does it better than the United States of America.

Manchester United have played at some truly remarkable grounds in recent years, ranging from the ultra-modern – the SoFi in Los Angeles and Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium – to the more traditional and revered, like the Rose Bowl.

We’re back over the pond this summer, as we take on West Ham, Bournemouth and Chicago in the Premier League Summer Series.

The stadiums in New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta are all gigantic, holding a combined 219,000 people, and here’s a little more information about each one…

United and Arsenal set a soccer attendance record at the MetLife Stadium two summers ago.

METLIFE STADIUM

First up is a venue United are well-acquainted with, following our meeting with Arsenal there in 2023.

The Reds beat the Gunners 2-0 on that occasion, in front of a crowd of 82,262 – a record for a soccer game at the New Jersey ground.

The MetLife opened in 2010, replacing the old Giants Stadium and two NFL franchises – the Giants and the Jets – call it home.

It’s the biggest stadium in the league and will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, plus this summer’s Club World Cup showpiece.

SOLDIER FIELD

By far the oldest venue on this summer’s slate, Chicago’s Soldier Field celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, although it was reconstructed in 2003.

United have played Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain there previously, and Bournemouth will be our opponents in the Windy City on 31 July.

With a capacity of 62,500, Soldier Field, where the Chicago Bears play, is actually the smallest NFL stadium currently in use.

Chicago Fire, Bastian Schweinsteiger’s former MLS team, also play there.

While it hosted games at the 1994 World Cup, Soldier Field will not be used for the 2026 competition.

Soldier Field is in an amazing location!

MERCEDES-BENZ STADIUM

Opened in 2017, this is the newest stadium United will visit on tour, and is the only one we haven’t played at before.

Home of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium has a retractable roof and air conditioning, meaning the players can escape the high summer heat and humidity of Georgia.

Seven World Cup matches, including one of the semi-finals, will take place here next year, while the stadium also held the Super Bowl in 2019. NFL’s blue-riband event will return there in 2028.
