United scapegoat lands top recognition after imperious performance vs. Everton, Carrick has transformed him

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has been honoured following his dazzling display in Monday’s victory against Everton. Dalot shines Dalot was brilliant as United beat Everton 1-0 to make it six unbeaten games under caretaker boss Michael Carrick. Benjamin Sesko came on from the bench and scored the winner, securing all three points for the Red Devils at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. But the overall team performance was hardly the swashbuckling football that has been witnessed since Carrick took over the reins. At times, United had to dig deep and fortunately, it was enough to get a result. Dalot was one of the few players who were good across both halves. Carrick has started Dalot in all the games he has taken charge of and his performance against the Toffees was arguably his best one yet. He was good on the ball when most others were wasteful. The Portugal international was a surprise outlet for United, constantly finding himself in promising attacking opportunities. This is not to mention how solid he was defensively. Dalot made nine defensive contributions. He contributed an impressive three interceptions, four clearances and seven recoveries. He also won the one tackle he put in. He came out on top in four of his seven duels, proving his worth in both ground and aerial contests. Statisticians WhoScored have confirmed Dalot’s place in their Premier League Team of the Week. Dalot recognised Dalot is the only United player to feature on the list. He has a rating of 7.72 and forms part of a four-man defensive unit that also consists of Ibrahima Konate (Liverpool), James Tarkowski (Everton) and El Hadji Malick Diouf (West Ham). Evidence of his resurgence can be seen in the fact that he is now keeping Noussair Mazraoui out of the starting XI. United are next in action on Sunday when they host Crystal Palace.
