AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez may leave the club during the January transfer window, sparking interest from Manchester United.
The development follows reports of internal tensions and criticism from Milan’s head coach.
Hernandez was left out of Milan’s recent goalless draw against Genoa in Serie A, a decision that followed scathing comments from coach Paulo Fonseca about some players not fully committing in matches.
Fans also voiced their discontent, targeting the France international with verbal insults.
The 26-year-old, a key figure in Milan’s defensive setup and one of their rotating captains this season, has found himself under scrutiny despite his consistent performances in recent years.
Manuel Quilon, Hernandez’s agent, met with Milan directors on Monday.
After the meeting, Quilon told reporters that the talks did not centre around a contract extension.
While he insisted that Hernandez wants to remain with Milan and is open to renewing his contract, reports suggest that the atmosphere within the club paints a different picture.
According to journalist Marco Conterio of Tuttomercatoweb, Milan has offered Hernandez a new contract worth €5 million per season plus bonuses. However, the club has reportedly informed the player and his representatives that he will be allowed to leave in January if a suitable bid is received.

United have struggled with injuries and inconsistency in their defence this season, making Hernandez an attractive target.
His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively would align well with Ruben Amorim’s tactical vision.
While Hernandez’s agent has reiterated his client’s desire to stay in Milan, the unfolding situation suggests a potential departure could be on the horizon.
