United ready to trigger the release clause of 25-goal Serie A hotshot next, INEOS are not slowing down – report

Manchester United have been trying to secure the signing of an elite-level striker, but the lack of Champions League football has complicated their search.

Both Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen seem to be out of reach, while Liam Delap also chose Chelsea over the Red Devils despite Jason Wilcox’s best efforts.

Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani have emerged as possible options, but INEOS prefer Premier League-proven stars, hence the interest in Jean-Philippe Mateta.

However, the Frenchman seems to be inclined towards staying at Crystal Palace to play in the Europa League next season, which means the search will continue.

United considering triggering Moise Kean release clause

Moise Kean was a part of United’s B list of striker targets and the Fiorentina forward has the experience of playing in England, during an ill-fated spell at Everton wherein he managed a meagre four goals.

But his form has skyrocketed since his move to I Viola, with the 25-year-old netting 25 times in only 38 starts across all competitions, while also registering three assists.

His overall gameplay has massively improved, and as per Calciomercato journalist Eleonora Trotta, the 20-time English league champions are seriously considering triggering the Italy international’s €52 million release clause.

“Manchester United aren’t giving up on Moise Kean. After closely monitoring him throughout the season, the ‘Red Devils’ are seriously considering triggering the Fiorentina striker’s €52 million release clause,” she wrote on X.

The Old Trafford side have scouted him extensively and feel he can be a great fit in Ruben Amorim’s system.

United have scouted him extensively

Moise Kean has quite the CV, having represented Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain previously. But whether he is finally ready to lead the line for a club of United’s stature is still not clear.

He has not been the most prolific in his previous seasons while recruiting strikers from the Serie A has not always worked out for the 20-time English league champions, as seen from Rasmus Hojlund’s disappointing move.

United are likely to focus on recruiting a striker once their move for Bryan Mbeumo is concluded. Both the Cameroonian and Matheus Cunha can play as strikers if needed, which is a huge bonus.

Maybe, United have an ace up their sleeve and will return for either Osimhen of Gyokeres. Kean remains a solid backup option for now.
