The transfer window does not officially open for another nine days, but Manchester United have finalised their first signing of the summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, United and Atalanta have now “completed all documents” for €45m package deal for Ederson. “All done and player set to sign later on this summer but all agreed with Éderson since May,” added the Italian journalist. “First signing: 100% confirmed.” It is understood that the 26-year-old has agreed to sign a four-year contract, with an option for a fifth, worth €5 million per year (£4.3m). The 6ft midfielder, known for his physicality and ground coverage, becomes the first signing of the Michael Carrick era at Old Trafford. As part of United’s midfield overhaul, INEOS are expected to sign at least one more midfielder following the arrival of Ederson, who is expected to replace Casemiro. Should Manuel Ugarte depart, the Red Devils may consider bringing in a third midfielder ahead of next season.
