United reach agreement over personal terms with Liam Delap’s representatives, their second summer deal looks close – report

Manchester United have agreed “the framework of a deal” to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, as per reports.

The Europa League defeat in Bilbao may have turned into a blessing for Ruben Amorim, as United’s recruitment team have stepped up their efforts to hand the Portuguese head coach his desired targets quickly.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming the Red Devils have reached a verbal agreement to sign Wolves talisman Matheus Cunha. They plan to trigger his £62.5m release clause this week.

Now, it is being suggested that United have made a lot of progress in their pursuit of a new striker to help Cunha reach his full potential.

According to ESPN, United have agreed “the framework of a deal” for Delap.

It is added that now the Mancunians are “waiting for the Ipswich Town striker to decide on his next move.”

Further, United have reportedly also agreed the outline of personal terms with the 22-year-old forward’s representatives.

It is understood that the Tractor Boys, who are headed to the Championship, have been informed by the Premier League giants that they will meet the £30 million release clause in the England U21 international’s contract.

The clause became valid after Ipswich’s relegation from England’s top tier was confirmed.

Having said that, Delap, who is also on Chelsea’s radar, is yet to give his green light to a return to Manchester. The ex-Manchester City youngster might be tempted to move to Stamford Bridge due to Champions League football.

Should he decide to join Amorim’s project, the transfer “could move quickly.”

The Englishman, who has scored 12 goals in his maiden Premier League campaign, is one of the most sought-after names in the transfer market. His signing would represent a huge statement of intent from INEOS.
