United primed for a £60 million-plus boost, league rivals plot double swoop after delivering transfer blow – report

As Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen his squad, INEOS are expected to offload several players to fund new signings.

With United having only £125 million to spend this summer, they aim to boost their transfer budget through player sales.

An intriguing update has emerged from Chelsea concerning Red Devils’ wantaway star Alejandro Garnacho.

Ideally, Garnacho is a player United should retain, especially after a promising campaign in which he registered 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances.

However, his frustrated reaction to the Europa League final defeat hinted at doubts over Amorim’s project.

The Argentine winger suggested he would reassess his future over the summer, and Chelsea have now emerged as a club seriously considering giving him an opportunity for a fresh start.

Garnacho among Enzo Maresca’s top transfer targets

Following their swoop for United’s striker target Liam Delap, Chelsea are now prioritising the signing of a winger, according to Ben Jacobs.

The transfer insider reports that Chelsea are particularly keen on acquiring a right-footed left winger.

Garnacho features on their three-man shortlist, alongside Nico Williams and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.

The urgency to reinforce the flank stems from uncertainty over Mykhailo Mudryk’s return.

Chelsea could complete a double swoop for Garnacho and Sancho

While Chelsea’s pursuit of the United number 17 (available for £40 million as per The Guardian) is a significant boost for INEOS, questions remain over Jadon Sancho’s future.

According to Jacobs, Enzo Maresca is eager to retain Sancho at Stamford Bridge despite the club’s pursuit of additional wingers.

Having played a key role in securing a top-14 finish in the 2024-25 Premier League season, Chelsea are obliged to sign him permanently for a fee between £20 million and £25 million.

That deal depends on Sancho agreeing to terms within the London side’s wage structure.

Even while prioritising Garnacho as their preferred winger signing, INEOS hope the Conference League winners and Sancho reach an agreement.

Otherwise, he will return, triggering a £5 million penalty.

Chelsea’s next priority after Liam Delap is a right-footed left winger. Alejandro Garnacho, Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens are three names under consideration.

If both Sancho and Garnacho make the move to London, their permanent exit would significantly bolster United’s transfer budget, giving Amorim the leverage to assemble a squad capable of re-establishing them as a Premier League powerhouse.
