United preparing to submit €40m opening offer for Italian sensation who could solve Amorim’s biggest problem – report

Manchester United are serious about signing a goalkeeper this summer, with Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi their topmost priority.

In fact, as per Football Italia, the Red Devils are preparing to submit their first offer for the Italian, worth an initial €40 million.

As previously relayed by The Peoples Person, the Bergamo-based side have increased their asking price to €50 million after finding out United’s interest in their shot-stopper.

Which means they are likely to turn down INEOS’ opening offer. The report mentions that United will refuse to admit defeat so soon.

Opening offer for Marco Carnesecchi

In fact, they are prepared to include performance-related add-ons to take the total as close as possible to the magic number.

“Manchester United are intensifying their pursuit of Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi and prepared to offer €40m, though it is still not enough to satisfy La Dea.

“We can exclusively confirm that Manchester United are ready to make a firm offer starting at €40m, with the possibility of adding more performance-related bonuses and add-ons.

“It is not quite enough to meet the Atalanta asking price, which is closer to €50m, but the extras can help bridge that gap.”

Whether the Serie A side will accept such a proposal or insist on an upfront payment remains to be seen.

Onana’s sale vital to the whole deal

In previous dealings with the Italian club (the Rasmus Hojlund deal), United found it hard to negotiate and bring down the asking price.

Interestingly, the whole deal depends on United’s ability to sell Andre Onana, who has so far not attracted any concrete offers from Saudi Arabia.

“In order for this to go through, the Premier League side would first need to sell Andre Onana,” the report added.

Monaco were reportedly interested but the Cameroonian’s demands proved to be too much. As a result, as things stand, he is likely to start as the No.1 in the new season.

Amorim is desperate to sell the United No.1 after hs high-profile mistakes last season, which cost the team big-time in both the Premier League and Europa League.
