United preparing 51m offer for “unstoppable” PSG sensation, he would solve Carrick’s biggest problem – report

Manchester United are ready to launch a blockbuster raid for Paris Saint-Germain starlet Warren Zaire-Emery, according to the latest report from France. Midfield Rebuild With two deals already signed and sealed for Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, INEOS are intent on adding a third midfielder to Michael Carrick’s engine room, given Casemiro has departed and Manuel Ugarte has suffered a potentially season-ending knee injury. AFC Bournemouth maestro Alex Scott is understood to be the leading target after the Red Devils faced rejection from Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes. However, the Cherries are adamant the 22-year-old Guernsey native will not be leaving the Vitality Stadium this summer, whether he signs a new contract or not. AS Roma dynamo Manu Kone is another option under consideration. The 25-year-old impressed for France at the World Cup when deputising for Real Madrid superstar Aurelien Tchouameni – another target at Old Trafford – but the club are reluctant to meet his £50 million asking price. This has forced United to consider alternatives, with a pair of Ligue 1 midfielders – LOSC Lille wonderkid Ayyoub Bouaddi and RC Lens enforcer Mamadou Sangare – on the radar. However, it is their competitor in France, Zaire-Emery, for whom an offer is said to be in the works. No Room At The Inn French outlet Top Mercato claims Manchester United are ready to ramp up their long-standing interest in Zaire-Emery, who only turned 20 in March. The report states INEOS are “preparing a €60 million approach to gauge the interest of the two-time European champions”, with the versatile midfielder having struggled for starts last season. However, this is no indictment on the France international’s talent. Rather, it is a testament to the outrageous quality Luis Enrique boasts in his midfield unit, with the triumvirate of Vitinha, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz unmatched in Europe – as PSG’s back-to-back Champions League wins prove. Capable of playing as the No.6 or No.8 in midfield, Zaire-Emery has even filled in at right-back for PSG when Achraf Hakimi has been unavailable. The youngster’s outstanding combination of physical and technical attributes makes him a Swiss Army Knife of a footballer. Described as “unstoppable” by Arsene Wenger when he first broke onto the scene, Zaire-Emery’s progress has somewhat slowed in recent years. There is a growing sense he must leave the Parc des Princes in search of more first-team minutes to help realise his enormous potential. With the need for a physical warrior to bring balance to United’s midfield, it is easy to see why INEOS are plotting a swoop for the French starlet. Whether PSG would be willing to accept a €60 million (£51m) offer remains to be seen, however. Top Mercato certainly does not think so, stating the Ligue 1 giant will likely have “no intention of responding favourably to Manchester United’s advances, especially since the player’s market value is estimated at €80 million.” Featured image Alex Grimm via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
