Manchester United remain interested in Victor Osimhen but will only sign the striker on their terms, as per reports.
United’s search for a new striker is still ongoing, with the Red Devils yet to make a significant breakthrough despite being strongly linked with a number of goalscorers.
Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are following Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. It is fair to assume even if the Magpies decide to part ways with the Swede, he is likely to be out of the Red Devils’ reach due to their exorbitant asking price.
Interestingly, Osimhen is still on the market with Napoli waiting for the Nigerian star to make his decision quickly, as he has no future at Naples under Antonio Conte.
The 26-year-old spent the 2024/25 campaign at Galatasaray, scoring a brilliant 37 goals and registering eight assists across all competitions.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Istanbul giants are “trying everything” in their power to retain Osimhen’s services but the player is still “thinking” as he is also on the radar of Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi Pro League were turned down by Osimhen before the Club World Cup but they are convinced “the yes will come in the end.”
However, the Italian newspaper claim that the Nigeria international would like to stay in Europe. United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are all reported to be interested in the prolific forward.
United are understood to be “waiting” for Osimhen but any serious approach would be “on their own terms.”
As such, it appears the Napoli man will have to considerably reduce his wage demands if he wants to secure a move to one of Europe’s top clubs. The Saudis are thought to be offering a salary worth €40m per annum.
Of all the strikers United have shown interest in this summer, Osimhen is the most reliable option, owing to his experience and skill sets.
At the same time, he is expected to cost more than anyone else, forcing United and other high-profile suitors to look elsewhere.
