United plotting blockbuster £80m swoop for La Liga superstar with 41 G/A last season – report

Manchester United’s attack looked toothless as they succumbed to a humiliating 0-1 defeat to the 10-men of Everton on Monday. INEOS had spent big to strengthen the attack, but with Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha missing, the team reverted to type with Joshua Zirkzee looking like a passenger up top. Come next summer, the Red Devils are expected to prioritise the midfield, but with the Dutchman expected to depart either in January or at the end of the campaign, the club could dip into the market for another attacker. Interestingly, Vinicius Jr of Real Madrid is looking to jump ship following his squabble with Xabi Alonso. Los Blancos have yet to agree a contract extension with the Brazilian, whose deal expires in 2027. United eyeing Vinicius Jr As per Football Insider, the 25-year-old could be available for around £80 million and United along with their arch-rivals Liverpool could both swoop. “Vinicius Junior would likely cost around £80 million next summer if he completes a Real Madrid exit, sources have told Football Insider. “The likes of Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in Vinicius Jr, whose contract at the Spanish club expires in June 2027. “However, the Brazilian winger is now being linked with an earlier departure from Real Madrid after reportedly falling out with manager Xabi Alonso. Never likely to materialise “Sources say that despite only having a year left on his contract at the end of this season, Vinicius Jr would still command a fee of at least £80m.” Vinicius grabbed 22 goals and 19 assists last time, and already has five goals and four assists to his name this term. But his petulance, both on and off the pitch, will be a factor to consider before going ahead. Not to mention his wages of €480,769 gross per week (via capology). INEOS are unlikely to pay as much given they want Casemiro to lower his wage demands. Even if Vinicius Jr were to leave the Bernabeu, it would most likely not be Old Trafford where he lands up. So take this report with a huge pinch of salt. Feature image Wagner Meier via Getty Images The Peoples Person has been one of the world’s leading Man United news sites for over a decade.
